on the scenic Hudson River for an enjoyable
day of Striped Bass & Shad fishing.
Striped Bass fishing on the Hudson River is
best in the spring when they have entered
the waterway to spawn. The Capital District
Albany area is one of the best locations on
the River to fish for these sea run brutes.
These fish make their run up from the
Atlantic Ocean and are halted at the Troy
Dam, which happens to be the first barrier
on the River. The fish are stacked in this
area of the river which provides for some
unbelievable fishing! It usually begins
around mid-April and continues until the end
of May. The majority of them are large
Trophy class pre-spawn females. If only two
words could be used to describe the
Striper's in the Hudson River, they would
have to be "BIG & NUMEROUS". The current
River record is 56.0 pounds. Most of our
customers can't believe the power that these
fish have, and often catch the biggest fish of
their lives. If your looking to get out of the
house after a long winter of cabin fever for
some serious Fishing action, why not start
your season off with a Trophy Striper!
Mid-April & May is the time and Upstate
Charters provides the knowledge &
equipment to get the job done.
Also entering the river at the same time is the
American Shad. The shad are abundant and
can provide alot of fun with ultra light tackle,
these fish run between 3-6 LBS.
We will do our best to provide you an
enjoyable and memorable fishing
experience. Having the right electronics,
tackle & knowledge makes a considerable
difference.
Bait and tackle are provided.
License Requirement:
There is no requirement to have a license to
fish the main tidal water of the Hudson River,
however a New York State license is
required to fish any tributary.
We primarily fish the main tidal water in the
Capital District Albany area from the Troy
Dam to Castleton.
Our current Boat record for the Hudson
River is a 38 pound Striped Bass. During the
season the up to date Boat record will be
posted on the boat, we do not always have
the time to post the most current record to
our website on a daily basis. If you beat the
most current record aboard our Boat,
you will win a
